Our History

30 Years

Parkview Christian School is excited to be celebrating our 30th year! We were started by four families from Parkview Church who were looking for a way of educating their children in a God-centered environment. They met with the principals of Perimeter Christian School and Intown Community School. Both schools were ministries of their respective PCA churches and employed the methods of Charlotte Mason. After about a year of research and planning, Parkview Christian School opened in August 1992, with 4 students in the 1st grade. The next year they added a Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and a 3rd/4th grade combination, then added a grade each year until offering K-8. That very first group of four students graduated from 8th grade in 1999.

Over the years, PCS has ministered to and educated almost 2,000 students. It is not only the students whose lives are touched, but also the families and the teachers. Lifelong friendships have been formed and lives have been changed. God has used our little school to do great things in the world. We have students who are now lawyers and doctors, who are working in government, education, business, the mission field, and who are now parents themselves. There are so many stories of God’s power and provision for PCS. We believe God has sown seeds here that our teachers have nurtured, and we have seen the ultimate harvest of fruit in these young people.

Along with those two mentor schools, Perimeter and Intown, PCS is part of a group of like-minded schools called Childlight Schools. There are now 17 schools all over the country that are part of the Childlight organization. There is even a school in Nicaragua! Being part of this group gives us accountability, fosters relationships among our teachers, and supports our administrators in their endeavors to build disciples.
